Adolescent Perpetrator Gets Life Sentence with Lowest 16-Year-Long Term
A fifteen-year-old boy has been judged to life behind bars with a minimum term of sixteen years for the murder of other pupil the deceased during a lunch period.

Mohammed Umar Khan pierced the victim, who was also fifteen, in the chest with a weapon at the city's All Saints Catholic High School in the second month.
The judge lifted the name suppression limitation on the perpetrator during sentencing at the courthouse.

Harvey's mother said she felt "as if a heavy load has been removed off my back" following the sentencing.

Caroline Willgoose mentioned she was glad the minimum term had been determined above the legal minimum of 15 years.
"My parent has been having medical treatment through the court proceedings and he just couldn't continue any longer," she said.

Prior to the killing on the third of February, the perpetrator and the victim had chosen different viewpoints in a different disagreement between two other pupils.
Surveillance video from the day of the incident showed the killer moving toward Harvey in the courtyard soon after noon.
Observers detailed a situation of "chaos", with people "fleeing, yelling all around" during the aggressive event.
Legal Trial
Throughout the court case, the defendant claimed he had not meant to kill the victim or cause him grave injury, asserting he could not remember what had happened.
Prosecutors maintained that he had "wanted to show he was tough" and "understood exactly what he was carrying out".
"You served as the aggressor and... you behaved in hurt and fury at what you considered to be his treachery of your relationship," declared the court official during the punishment phase.

The school released a statement stating that the student was "dearly remembered every single day by the entire learning environment".
Law enforcement emphasized the tragic consequences of bearing weapons, commenting that a "split-second choice" can irreversibly change multiple existences.
